After more than 40 years with TXU (now Luminant and Vistra), Mike now serves as a consultant to the energy industry primarily in organizational, executive and leadership development. He works with a number of companies in organizational and leadership assessments, team and individual coaching and developing performance improvement plans. Mike relies on his experience and interests in safety, human performance, lean and servant and constructive leadership as foundations for building high performance teams. He continues to advise on projects such as design, licensing, construction, operations and staffing of current and new nuclear and fossil plants. Prior to his retirement Blevins served as the COO of Luminant. Blevins was responsible for nuclear generation, fossil generation, mining, safety, environmental services, supply chain and performance management. Blevins’ experience in the electric utility industry in distribution, transmission and generation with TXU dates back to 1969 as a summer intern. The majority of his career was spent in generation in gas, coal and nuclear power plants. A leader in the industry, Blevins has served on four corporate boards and in many roles with the Nuclear Energy Institute, Institute for Nuclear Power Operations and the Electric Power Research Institute. He is a past member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Nuclear Society, American Association of Blacks in Energy and Women in Nuclear. In addition to his professional duties, Blevins has served on engineering advisory boards of two universities and the Board of Trustees of the Austin Graduate School of Theology. He currently serves on boards for the Foster’s Home for Children, the Human Performance Association and the board of the Community of Human and Organizational Learning (HPRCT). Blevins, a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1973. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas and a certified senior reactor operator. He and his wife, Susan, live in Granbury, TX also the home of their two sons and their families, including four grandchildren.
