2025 Community of Human and Organizational Learning 31st Annual Conference

Josh Bryant, from Mitchell Services (a publicly listed company in Australia – Mining Industry) and Brent Sutton, Learning Teams Inc, will workshop with attendees on the “how and the why” of Critical Control and Critical Step verification for high-risk work, and why worker narrative around the fidelity and efficacy of controls helps in identifying weak signals and emergent blinds spots.

We will also explore the importance of moving from “Who Failed to What Failed: when high potential near miss events happen. Why celebrating the presence and capacity for those controls that did work are valuable in forming psychological safety and better learning.

We will also show how AI can be applied in the field and in the back office as part of Critical Control Verification and how to present “metrics, measures and evaluative information” to leadership that makes them more curious about the presence and capacity of safety rather than the statistics of failures.
