About me
Atif Ashraf is a doctoral candidate in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University, studying differences between work-as-imagined and work-as-done in high-risk industries. He holds a Master's in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and worked with the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center in Qatar. Before his PhD, he worked as a Research Associate with oil and gas companies in the Middle East, leading initiatives in hazard communication and safety culture assessments. Named an Emerging Talent by the Resilience Engineering Association in 2021 and selected as a Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow by the National Academies of Science, Atif brings global perspective from working across Asia, Middle East, and North America. He combines expertise in chemical engineering, process safety, and human factors to understand the complex interplay between technical and human elements in industrial settings.
