About me
Susan is a safety and health professional with more than 35 years of experience in nuclear power operations, OSHA, safety and health management, and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP). Susan has successfully led various safety initiatives throughout her career, including one that resulted in a 93% reduction in personnel injuries and the DOE Voluntary Protection Program Star designation. Susan serves as the HOP Manager for Oak Ridge National Laboratory and is leading the charge to the full integration of HOP principles and tools into laboratory operations and research. She is recognized among her peers as a champion for continuous improvement and performance assurance of operations. Susan holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga and an MBA from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. She has been married for 36 years (to the same man) – they have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 grand dogs. She loves to garden & scuba dive.
