Laura M.D. Maguire was formerly the Head of Research for a software start up focused on learning from incidents. She has conducted research and advised Fortune 500 companies on resilient and joint cognitive systems design, inter- and intra-organizational coordination, critical incident analysis, and enabling adaptive capacity across distributed work teams. She take a practical approach to applied research and has led research programs for startups, enterprise organizations, and industry associations. She is an internationally recognized keynote speaker and her work has been translated and published in a variety of international journals and trade publications. She sits on the Board of the IEEE Software Engineering journal and has a recurring column called ‘Failure Mode’.
She holds a Master's degree in Human Factors & Systems Safety from Lund University and a PhD in Integrated Systems Engineering from the Ohio State University.
