About me
Persephone Whelan is a mother, wife and a fire manager. She began working for the Forest Service in 1994. In the beginning of her career as a fire manager, she pursued her goal to learn as many positions as possible by working on hand crews, light and heavy engines, and helitack crews across the nation. She has 3 bachelor’s degrees from the University of Idaho, 401 Certification from UNLV, Aviation Safety Manager from UC Davis, and training in Just Culture, HROs, facilitation and whole lot of other “stuff”.
Recently she acquired her master’s degree in risk management with Notre Dame of Maryland University. Persephone’s career ideal is to facilitate listening at all levels of the organization. She seeks to continue to push her organization towards a learning and resilient culture which models exemplary communication throughout its ranks from the tip of spear to the hand that wields it.
