From June 16th to 20th, our gathering at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel in Columbus, OH, promises three immersive days packed with insights, innovation, and collaboration. Dive into an array of complimentary workshops on Monday, kickstarting an enriching week, and explore paid workshops on Friday for a deeper dive into specialized topics.

We’re all inspired by the good ideas that come from academia. However, putting them into practice in real life reveals layers of complexity and obstacles. Sometimes, these obstacles make you want to quit; other times, they plot your course, leading you to discoveries and new opportunities. Sometimes, the obstacle is the way.

This breakout session will demonstrate a practitioner’s approach to navigating and shaping a system that helps the organization learn about what’s happening when nothing bad is happening. Jon Schmidt, HOP Program Manager of the Davey Tree Expert Co. will show you how to overcome the obstacles of discoverability, maintain urgency, and provide value for operations to learn from normal work.
